I am committed to creating a portrait that you would be proud to hang on your wall. I put a wealth of effort and dedication into my paintings and continue to improve the level of my craftsmanship with each brushstroke. I see each commission request, as an opportunity to collaborate, and to match my artistic inclination to your vision for the end result.

• All of my portraits are hand-painted in oils.
• I am based on a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean called Malta. Every portrait is painted exclusively by me. I do not work with art assistants.

HOW I WORK
I can work from all types of photographs. However, the photos need to be well-lit and illustrative of the essence of the individual, a facial expression or the surroundings could impact this.
In other words, the photograph should ideally be a good representation of them and who they are. All features of the individual being painted must be clearly seen in the photograph to enable me to capture a true likeness.
If you are in Malta, and do not have an appropriate photograph I can offer to come to take the photographs myself at an extra fee of 50 Euro. All photographs will be passed on to yourself and we will discuss which one you prefer to use for the painting.
I paint at life-size, Therefore the smallest size that can be chosen is 50 x 50 cm to accommodate the face and enough space around the face for background and any abstractions. I prefer to work on square layouts and canvases. If the photograph you would like painting demands a rectangular layout, I can guide you towards the best option to select, in terms of size and price.
To discuss the ideal photograph, and the outcome of the painting, it is important that we schedule a call or a meeting to go through what your expectation is, what your vision is, and whether I am a good match as the artist you execute it. For this, I recommend a call via zoom that should take no longer than 30 mins.
TIMESCALES
It takes 6 weeks from receiving reference photography until completion. If your request is time-sensitive, please do let me know- I am often booked up and working tirelessly on other paintings. If you need your painting to be completed within four weeks instead of six, I can definitely see how to work it into my schedule to get it to you sooner. Simply advise me and I can let you know what can be done.
FRAMING
If you would like to have your portrait framed and ready to hang, I will provide you with a selection to choose from and finally a quote for the size of your portrait upon request. Please allow 3 working days to receive a quote unless this has already been agreed upon at the initial order stage.
Please note that framing will increase the weight of the painting significantly, and therefore the package will cost more to ship.
TERMS
My objective is to capture a true likeness of the individual being painted, according to the photograph provided. I am unable to paint the individual holding a different posture, facial expression, or as having different features from what is provided in the reference material. I work off only one photograph, therefore if more photographs are sent for me to work off I will request that one final photo is chosen that will be the subject of the final painting.
As the client, you are fully responsible to give feedback to the artist when it is requested in order to ensure a result within your expectations. If I need to consult with you about a portion of the painting which was overlooked in the initial discussions, I will go ahead and make my own decisions in the painting process to ensure efficiency with completion.
I have a specific methodology and style with which I undertake my paintings, which is what likely motivated you to choose me as the artist for this commissioned piece. I am unable to deviate away from the way that I paint to mimic that of another artist and will not be able to agree to such requests.
ARTIST’S RIGHT TO AUTHORSHIP CREDIT
Unless agreed otherwise, I may use the work in my artist's portfolio (including, but not limited to, any website or social media that displays my works).

If the painting is intended as a gift, I will of course refrain from showing anything to do with it until it has been gifted to the recipient.
